Inspiring Future STEM Leaders: Science, Technology, and Innovation 100^3 Program at SMK (P) Methodist, Kuantan

 

On 14th November 2024, the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering Technology (FTKPM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), successfully organized the Science, Technology, and Innovation 100^3 Program at SMK (P) Methodist, Kuantan. This initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI), aimed to inspire 150 Form Three students to delve deeper into the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through interactive, hands-on activities.

The program featured a range of engaging modules designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of STEM, including:

  • Rocket Launcher
  • Popsicle Bridge Stick
  • Arduino Smart Robot
  • Robot Coding
  • Robot Soccer

The program was led by Ts. Dr. Radhiyah Binti Abd Aziz, a scientist from UMPSA appointed by MOSTI, with the support of an exceptional team of facilitators who made the event a success. The facilitators included:

This program serves as a vital platform to introduce students to technological innovations while fostering stronger collaboration between UMPSA and local schools. The activities are specifically designed by FTKPM lecturers to give students practical exposure to STEM concepts, enhancing their creativity and interest in these critical fields.

FTKPM hopes this initiative will ignite students' passion for STEM, inspiring them to pursue careers in technology and engineering. By equipping students with foundational knowledge and skills, the program supports the goal of nurturing a tech-savvy generation ready to meet future industry demands.

FTKPM Successfully Organizes SCITECH4U MOSTI STEM CAMP 2024 at SMK Mat Kilau

 

9 & 10 November 2024 – The SCITECH4U MOSTI STEM Camp 2024 was held with great success and enthusiasm at SMK Mat Kilau, involving 150 Form Three students. Organized by the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering Technology (FTKPM), UMPSA, in collaboration with Wanita Inspirasi Kuantan (WINK) under the All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia-Sustainable Development Goals (APPGM-SDG) initiative, the program aimed to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) at the grassroots community level. The program was generously funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) and supported by the Pahang State Education Department and Kuantan District Education Office.

The event was graced by the presence of YB Tuan Chan Chun Kuang, State Assemblyman for Semambu, and TS. Dr. Muhammed Nafis Bin Osman Zahid, Deputy Dean of FTKPM. The program featured engaging STEM modules such as Rocket Launcher, Popsicle Bridge Stick, Arduino Smart Robot, and many more designed to spark students' interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through interactive activities.

This event marked the third STEM Camp organized by FTKPM, showcasing its commitment to fostering young talents and strengthening ties with local communities. FTKPM extends its heartfelt gratitude to facilitators from FTKPM, FTKMA, FTKEE, and the students of FTKPM who ensured the program’s success.

FTKPM Showcases CSR Initiative: Islamic Calligraphy Installation at Masjid As-Syakirin

 

Pekan, October 2024 – The Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering Technology (FTKPM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), successfully completed the installation of Islamic calligraphy at Masjid As-Syakirin, Pekan, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. This effort aligns with the faculty’s motto, "Memasyarakatkan Teknologi" (Technology for Society).

The beautifully crafted calligraphy, featuring Surah 4 Qul, Ayat Kursi, and Bismillah, was produced using state-of-the-art laser cutting technology on 2mm-thick aluminum. This initiative highlights the harmonious blend of Islamic art and modern technology. 

Led by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Zamzuri Hamedon, alongside FTKPM's technical team, the installation process was completed in just two hours. The addition of this stunning calligraphy enhances the mosque’s aesthetic appeal while fostering a closer connection between UMPSA and the local community. 

FTKPM remains committed to contributing meaningfully to society through innovation and collaboration.

Pensyarah FTKPM turun padang dalam program khidmat komuniti ilmiah

KUANTAN, 22 Januari 2024 – Seramai 15 orang pensyarah Fakulti Teknologi Kejuruteraan Pembuatan dan Mekatronik (FTKPM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) turun padang dalam program Khidmat Komuniti Ilmiah, Faculty@School bersama-sama dengan 104 orang pelajar tingkatan 4 Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Tun Abdul Razak, Pekan. 

Menurut Timbalan Dekan (Akademik dan Hal Ehwal Pelajar), FTKPM UMPSA, Ts. Dr. Muhammed Nafis Osman Zahid, program ini adalah bertujuan untuk memberikan pendedahan kepada para pelajar berkaitan dengan Teknologi Pembuatan dan Mekatronik. 

“Dalam masa yang sama, kami berharap program seperti ini dapat menarik minat pelajar untuk meneroka ilmu di dalam bidang teknikal di UMPSA, sekali gus memenuhi keperluan negara pada masa hadapan.

“Program khidmat komuniti ini juga adalah seiring dengan Pelan strategik UMPSA 2021-2025 Objektif Strategik 1: Keunggulan TVET Aras Tinggi, Teras 1B: Akademik Bersama Komuniti.

“Selain berkongsi ilmu, mereka juga turut mengadakan sesi promosi dan perkongsian peluang bagi menyambung pengajian di FTKPM kelak. 

“Terdapat lima modul aktiviti iaitu Mini Solar Car Challenge, Popsicle Bridge Stick, Robot Coding, Arduino Smart Robot, dan Rocket Launcher,” ujarnya.

Pengetua Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Tun Abdul Razak, Mohd Asri Yusof merakamkan ucapan terima kasih dan bersyukur dengan kehadiran para pensyarah yang turun padang bersama-sama dengan para pelajar tingkatan 4. 

“Pendedahan daripada para pensyarah tentang program pengajian yang ada di UMPSA dapat menarik minat para pelajar ke arah Teknologi Pembuatan dan Mekatronik dan pada masa akan datang menjadi pelajar UMPSA pula,” ujarnya.

Dungun, Terengganu, 21 October 2024 – The Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering Technology (FTKPM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), successfully organized a STEM Community Service Program Faculty@School at SM Islam Darul Iman. The program, which involved 200 students, aimed to ignite interest and passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through engaging and hands-on activities.

These modules were specially designed by FTKPM lecturers to provide students with practical exposure to STEM concepts, fostering creativity and deeper understanding.

The faculty hopes that this initiative will not only enhance students' knowledge but also inspire them to explore careers in technology and engineering. FTKPM remains committed to nurturing the next generation of STEM innovators.

Kuantan, 2 October 2024 – The Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering Technology (FTKPM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), successfully organized the Faculty@School STEM Camp and Community Leadership Program at SMK Paya Besar, Kuantan. The program engaged 179 Form 3 students, aiming to inspire interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through interactive and hands-on learning activities.

The program featured three exciting modules:

  • Smart Robot
  • Popsicle Bridge Stick
  • Rocket Launcher

These modules were specially designed by FTKPM lecturers to provide practical exposure and deepen students' understanding of STEM concepts.

Organized under the APPGM-SDG initiative and the Agro Kuantan Association, this program also received support from key strategic partners, including the Kuantan City Council, SMK Paya Besar, and FTKPM UMPSA.

The primary objective of the event was to expose students to STEM fields through engaging and practical activities. By providing interactive experiences, the program hoped to deepen students’ understanding of STEM and inspire them to pursue STEM-related fields in the future.

The faculty expresses its gratitude to all facilitators, partners, and students for their enthusiastic participation and support in making this event a success. FTKPM remains committed to advancing STEM education and fostering community collaboration.

Lawatan sambil belajar pelajar dari Sekolah Sains Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Pekan ke FTKPM bagi menerokai bidang teknologi dan kejuruteraan

Pada 13 Julai yang lalu, FTKPM telah menerima kehadiran seramai 127 orang pelajar tingkatan 4 dari Sekolah Sains Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Pekan sempena lawatan sambil belajar di UMP. Tujuan lawatan adalah untuk memberi peluang kepada pelajar menerokai bidang teknologi dan kejuruteraan. Dalam lawatan ini, FTKPM yang telah diketuai oleh Ketua Teknikal iaitu Encik Aidil Shafiza telah mengiringi para pelajar dan guru pengiring ke makmal bahan, makmal permesinan termaju, serta makmal kenderaan autonomi. Para pelajar kelihatan bersemangat dan gembira ketika ditunjukkan beberapa bahan dan peralatan di makmal oleh staf teknikal iaitu Encik Safronizan, Encik Nursyazwan dan Encik Rizal. FTKPM berbesar hati menerima kehadiran para pelajar dan diharapkan aktiviti seperti ini dapat lagi diteruskan untuk mempromosikan program-program kejuruteraan yang boleh menarik minat pelajar menerokai bidang sains dan teknologi.
