INDUSTRIAL TALK FTKPM: Mechatronics-Refinery’s World of Control

 

On May 14, 2025, FTKPM UMPSA successfully organized an Industrial Talk titled "Mechatronics-Refinery’s World of Control". The session was delivered by En. Khairul Akmar Bin Onn, Principal Engineer, Instrument & Control at PETRONAS, who shared valuable insights on instrumentation and control systems within oil refinery operations, as well as the crucial role of mechatronics in today’s industrial landscape.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the students and staff who attended, as well as to En. Khairul Akmar for his informative and engaging session. We hope that participants gained useful exposure to further their professional development and knowledge in the field.

On May 13, 2025, SMACH FTKPM and IEM-UMPSA Club organized a valuable Study Visit to the Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Plant in Pekan. The visit was led by Dr. Mohd Azraai bin Mohd Razman and Dr. Muhammad Amirul bin Abdullah, who guided the students throughout the event.

The main goal of the visit was to provide students with practical insights and firsthand experience in the manufacturing processes of one of the world’s leading automotive brands. The students had the opportunity to explore various aspects of the plant’s operations, from the production lines to the advanced technology used in the manufacturing of Mercedes vehicles.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Mohd Azraai bin Mohd Razman and Dr. Muhammad Amirul bin Abdullah for their valuable guidance and leadership throughout the visit. Additionally, we would like to thank all the participants who contributed to the success of this educational experience.

This visit has significantly enriched the students' understanding of industrial processes within the automotive sector and has provided them with practical knowledge that will aid their academic and professional growth.

First Year Seminar: Welcoming New Students at FTKPM

 

 

On March 10, 2025, the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronics Engineering (FTKPM) successfully hosted the First Year Seminar as part of the University Orientation Week. The event, held at Lecture Hall 1, FTKPM, aimed to provide new students with essential information and guidance as they begin their academic journey at UMPSA.

The seminar was structured into three main modules. The seminar started with an introduction to the faculty and its structure, followed by academic essentials such as teaching methods, CGPA/GPA calculations, and graduate employability. The final module covered topics on the curriculum structure, prerequisite courses, course registration procedures, and credit transfer guidelines, equipping new students with the necessary knowledge for their academic journey.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all speakers and participants who made this event a success. The First Year Seminar provided an excellent opportunity for new students to familiarize themselves with the academic environment and resources available to them at FTKPM. We look forward to supporting the students in their academic journey throughout their time at UMPSA.

Industrial Visit to Huawei under the Premium Industry Exposure Program

On January 14, 2025, the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronics Engineering (FTKPM) at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) organized an industrial visit to Huawei Technologies (M) Sdn. Bhd. as part of the Premium Industry Exposure Program. The visit was led by Dr. Ahmad Syakirin bin Ismail @ Rosdi.

The visit was made even more meaningful with a briefing and presentation conducted by a UMPSA alumnus currently working at Huawei. He shared valuable insights from his career journey and highlighted exciting opportunities at Huawei, a globally recognized technology company.

This program aims to inspire students and expose them to premium career opportunities, with the goal of helping them secure high-paying jobs upon graduation. FTKPM remains committed to supporting students in achieving career success in the global industry.

Academic Visit to Mercedes-Benz Plant for Manufacturing Processes Course

 

On 9th January 2025, the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering Technology (FTKPM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), successfully organized an academic visit to the Mercedes-Benz plant in Pekan, Pahang. The visit was part of the Manufacturing Processes course curriculum and aimed to provide students with real-world exposure to industrial manufacturing operations, focusing on advanced automotive production systems.

The visit offered students a unique opportunity to observe cutting-edge technologies used in automotive manufacturing, including automated assembly lines, quality control processes, and robotics applications. Throughout the visit, students gained valuable insights into modern manufacturing practices and the stringent standards adhered to by a globally renowned automotive brand.

This academic visit was accompanied by three dedicated FTKPM lecturers:
